Hi,
We are getting ready to layout a board to connect the SDT042tft-ts to a microchip explorer 16 board.  We are doing this so we can develop the user screens before our custom hardware is completed.  We have connectors for the touch screen, and the main interface connectors. (supplied with display, and found at Digikey).  Our problem is the source for the 2 pin LIF connector for the second led backlight string, labeled A2-K2 on the drawing.

Thanks,
Stephan

Hi Stephan- This is in the works.  I hope to have more info next week on the new connector for the backlight FPC.  I will post here when I hear back from the factory.

Regards,
Terry

Any word on these mating connectors?  I need both the touch screen and backlighting connectors.  This info really should be in the datasheet.

I have not yet gotten info for the backlight connector.  I am still working on it and will post ASAP.

The backlight connector is meant to be soldered directly to the board.  There is not a ZIF connector available for this FPC.

The data sheet for the touch panel connector is already on our website DESIGN CENTER page.  Please see the attached file for the same.  We have samples available.  If you need any, please contact sales@displaytech-us.com.

hi,
Our board layout guy is asking if you have a layout pattern for the flex circuit for the backlight.  Do you also have soldering instructions for this connection?

Hi
We're ready to submit a pcb for manufacture except for the backlight flex circuit.  I can't accept that we have to solder the flex to the pcb.  Surely this will be a massive weak point in the system?  I agree with Sabarski - if you expect us to solder directly to the pcb then please explain how it can be done reliably.

Hi,
what is the maximum backlight current?

Hello Norman,

The backlight flex soldering is a hand performed operation.  We would be happy to provide a quote to you for changing the flex so you can use a ZIF connector. Please contact me offline directly.

Hello Design,

The typical current is 40mA (20mA) on each.  Please see page 12 of the spec.  The average that most people do not exceed is 25mA.
