S64128K Programming
Where can I find a more detailed programming manual for the S64128 or the ST7565 controller than the controller data sheet? For example, are there built-in fonts? What is bias and which do I choose?
We have schematics and sample code available on our DESIGN CENTER page on our website. The controller data sheet contains the majority of info you will need.
Here is a definition of bias:
What
is the definition of Bias Ratio?
A:
Bias Ratio of an LCD is also known as the Voltage margin and is defined as the
ratio of V on (voltage on pixels that are currently addressed to the ON-state)
divided by V off (voltage on pixels that are not currently addressed).
Please see what your microprocessor is capable of with regards to LCD driving. This will help to make some decisions for you. Your microprocessor also may have built in font libraries/ graphics libraries. If not, there are also 3rd party companies that sell font/ graphics libraries. Some of these companies are also linked from our DESIGN CENTER page on our website.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Terry
The data sheet for the IC is the most detailed info available. I read on your earlier posts that you have the reference schematic, although I don't know if you know there is sample code on our website as well. Please find the link here: http://www.displaytech-us.com/design/designlcd.php
To specifically answer your questions, there are no built-in character fonts. The bias is 1/9. For your reference in the future the bias setting is listed on page 3 of the LCD spec under the heading of General Specification.
Thanks for the help. I've figured out most of the programming. However, the volume control still puzzles me. The data sheet says it sets the display brightness. What is that? I know its not the backlight. I thought it was the internal regulator, but the sample code I downloaded (thanks) does not use the internal regulator, but it still programs the volume control.
Volume control is another way that the IC manufacturers say contrast control. The purpose of it is to fine tune the contrast after you've set the up the charge pump, if you are using it.
