S162A backlight connections?

Hello

I plan on using the following S162 LCD character display in a new design:
162A-BC-BW-2
(yellow/green STN, yellow/green backlight, wide temperature range, bottom view)

I am confused by the backlight connections. The LCD module has contacts 1 to 16 along the top of the module, where 15 and 16 are defined as the Anode and Kathode of the LED backlighting. But it also has two additional unnumbered contacts at the side of the module (see the attached picture captured from the datasheet). These are supposedly also for the backlighting. What is the connection between these two contacts and pins 15 and 16?
